Insoglio del Cinghiale 2006, Sangiovese 1/02/2011 A beautiful Tuscan wine, shared with my mother-in law, and 2 sister-in-laws, a table cloth and the wall at family dinner night. There is so much going on at these nights I took 2 bottlles, I knew we would need them! Kids going nuts, my mother-in law running around looking for her wooden spoon, she can never remember where she puts it. But I have to say it was an enjoyable family night. The smoothness of this Tuscan went wonderfully with the ribs, roasted potatoes and panfried zucchini my mother-in-law cooked. The earthy, cherry flavour lasted long after the last mouthful was finished. Do we want another bottle? 31/01/2011 After the '71 Grange came the question - ''Do you think we should open another bottle?'' Hello all I'm back! 31/01/2011 Hi All,

Yes I have to apologise, it has been quite a full on year and I have not posted any news at all. However, I now have engaged in rather interesting task... We thought that we would try a new bottle or 2 every day and blog about it. So here goes

1971 Grange... Our first Blog

Ok so about 10 years ago we here at Ask Andre had a large vase in which we threw our corks into it took us about 6 months to fill it up, I think there would have been about 500 corks thrown in there our first 6 months together. We got another vase and filled that up too.  Then we had some beautiful children, a beautiful house and  a beautiful mortgage to go with it. I don't think we would have even filled half a vase in 5 years. So in an attempt to grab back our carefree days and make light of what has seemingly turned into such a serious life we have decided to open a beautiful wine or 2 every night prepare a great meal to go with it and let you know all about it. So we recently celebrated a 40th birthday around here, (no not mine!) and tonight was the night to open this bottle. Umm well my husband loved it. It was all he expected. He said that it still had another 10 years in it. The flavours were earthy, the tannins had dissipated but over all the wine was extremely balanced and full of flavour. For $700 a bottle I should hope so! I love a decent red too but for me a bit porty (is that a word?), I still drank my share, I think it was more out of not wanting to dissapoint my husband though. Perhaps I am a novice when it comes to older wines. None the less it was a wonderful experience to share this with my husband and something which we kicked back and enjoyed trying together Truffle Hill 9/10/2008 The Wine and Truffle Company have renamed and rebranded the wines which will now be known as 'Truffle Hill'. Well known for their Riesling and Chardonnay these wines are now packaged with a more sophistcated and prestigious look.
Available through Grape Expectations Howard Park International Riesling Tasting 9/10/2008 Last weekend the 3rd annual Howard Park International Riesling tasting was held at the winery and cellar door in Margaret River. The event started with a tasting of 3 brackets of Riesling from around the world - all from the 2006 vintage. The tasting was followed by lunch in the cellar door with an assortment of wines from the Howard Park cellars.
Highlights from the tasting were the 2006 Egon Muller Scharzhof, 2006 Hunter's, 2006 Howrad Park and the 2006 Pewsey Vale Contours. The lunch that followed was delicious and very lively thanks to the live band that had everyone on the dancefloor working off all that Riesling!! Thanks to Jeff and Amy Burch for hosting such a fantastic event.
